ALEX FERGUSON is expecting Cristiano Ronaldo to confirm he is staying a Manchester United player.
And the Portugal winger would not be allowed to leave even if he wanted to go.
Fergie insists there is no way his star player will be signing for Real Madrid.
The United boss said: “I’m very confident about that. It’s a game Real play all the time. In the past they’ve done it with David Beckham, they’ve done it with Van Nistelrooy, they’ve done it with my fitness coach last summer — so we’re used to it.
“I am more than confident Cristiano will be with us next year. The Glazer family will not be messed about in this situation.
“We want Cristiano to stay for a long, long time. He is on a fantastic contract and quite rightly so — he’s the best player in the world.”
But Real president Ramon Calderon has refused to rule out a bid for the United winger.
Calderon said: “We would love to have Cristiano or any of the world’s great players here.”
